Emergency Management

The McDowell County Office of Emergency Management works to protect the citizens of McDowell County through an Integrated Emergency Management framework encompassing the phases of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Working in partnership with local, state, federal and private entities. McDowell County Office of Emergency Management seeks to provide a seamless and comprehensive Emergency Management program for all of the citizens and visitors of McDowell County.  

 

The four principle functions of the McDowell County Office of Emergency Management are: preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation in planning for natural and man-made disasters.

 

The goals of the Department are to assist the citizens of McDowell County in planning for natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and man-made disasters such as chemical spills.

 

Emergency Management strives to inform citizens on preparing themselves and their families in advance of a disaster for their best protection.
