Register of Deeds

Welcome to the McDowell County Register of Deeds! It is the mission of the McDowell County Register of Deeds to maintain the integrity, completeness, accuracy, and safekeeping of all public records. The Register of Deeds provides access to real estate and vital records in accordance with North Carolina General Statutes.

The Register of Deeds office records, indexes, and stores all real estate and business-related documents that are presented for recording. We assist citizens with issuing marriage licenses and administering Notary oaths and recording Notary Commissions.

The Register of Deeds assist Veterans in recording their military discharge records.

In addition, this office provides certified copies of recorded documents including birth and death records
