The McDowell County Tourism Development Authority is an independent government agency created in 1986 to promote tourism in the County. The Authority operates a visitor center employing an Executive Director, Marketing Team, Operations and Guest Services.
Visitors know the department as Destination McDowell -Old Fort Visitor Center. The visitor center is located at 91 South Catawba Avenue in Old Fort, NC and is open Monday through Saturday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, except on holidays. Follow Destination McDowell on Facebook and Instagram.
