McDowell County’s Transfer Station accepts and loads solid waste from the County’s industries, from municipal and County waste collection facilities. While the facility can accept solid waste from residential sources, County residents should dispose of bagged household waste at one of the seven Convenience Centers.
From the Transfer Station, the solid waste is loaded into trailers and hauled to an approved landfill in Caldwell County for disposal.
The Transfer Station also operates a "Scrap metals & white goods" recycling facility, and a yard waste disposal facility.
The Transfer Station's hours are:

Saturday: | 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. |
