Position Objectives

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Full Time, 24 hours on call

 

The Public Services Director provides leadership, overall administration, and technical expertise for the following units:  Facility Maintenance; Nebo Water System; Waste Collections/Disposal and Fleet Maintenance.  Each unit is overseen by a unit supervisor who reports to the Public Services Director.  The Public Services Director reports directly to the County Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the effective supervision and administration of the Public Services Department including budgeting, purchasing and financial transactions, staff organization and development, performance evaluations, employee relations, prioritizing and assigning work and related activities. Evaluates the need to fill vacant positions and recommends changes to allocated positions and divisional structure as needed. Researches and prepares recommendations and reports for the County Manager. 

 

Oversees and develops short and long-term strategic goals pertaining to the planning, development, design and operational processes for units of the department. Establishes departmental programs and budgets for the maintenance, replacement, and improvement of materials and equipment.

 

Performs other duties as directed.

Minimum Requirements

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a degree in Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field, plus five (5) years professional experience, with at least four (4) years supervisory experience.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to move or lift documents and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.  Position requires knowledge and use of typical office equipment including telephone, audio-visual equipment and personal computer.  Position requires frequent contact with fellow employees and citizens.  Position may require occasional travel to remote sites where conditions for access may not be modifiable.
